I'm a full stack developer who can quickly learn new technologies when justified by the needs of a specific business case or team. Below are some of the technologies I've used to build and deploy production applications for the companies I've worked with:
Kin is a consumer-facing home insurance startup that's using data and UX expertise to make buying insurance easier and more affordable. The projects mentioned below involved small teams ranging from two to four people.
Guaranteed Rate is a mortgage company headquartered in Chicago. While there, I focused on writing small, composable Clojure applications in a microservices architecture.
LiveWatch Security (now operating as Brinks Home Security) sells home security systems and monitoring services. I was a member of a small development team with a broad scope, developing and maintaining internal and external applications across the lifecycle of our product, from landing pages to the back-end services powering the company's best-in-class alarm response times.
Oliver Wyman is a global management consulting firm, and in their Financial Services Practice Group, I worked on a variety of client engagements. Projects ranged in length from a few weeks to a year, and I worked on teams that ranged in size from a single other consultant to a dozen. Most work was done on site at our clients' offices.
My primary interest outside of work is music. I DJed for my college radio station, I've played in a handful of bands, and I'm always down to hack on little musical projects or go to a show. Other than that, you can find me honing my cooking skills, cycling around the city, or rowing on the bayou with the New Orleans Rowing Club.
In Chicago, I served as a mentor for Chicago Scholars and tutored elementary school students once a week for Tutoring Chicago; I'm looking forward to finding volunteer opportunities in my new home, New Orleans.
